English Bio

I was born in Ravenna (Italy) 48 years ago, where I live back after 15 years “on the road”. I am active in the multimedia (audio and video) fields from more than 30 years.

Everything started when in Italy the market of FM radio stations was free, in 1976. I started to play as a DJ in FM stations, and did it for almost 10 years. Funny detail, I ended my DJ career in a radio station directed from Ersilio Tonini, who is today Cardinal of the Catholic Church and has a big presence in italian national media, always in lila/black dress :-)

At the same time, while playing as DJ, I developed a big interest in the hardware related to music reproduction and broadcast (I was sure I could never get famous as a DJ, I was “too proud to be nerd”), and I decided to get a degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of Bologna, where I had my doctorate in 1986, at age 25, with a project of a remote digitally controlled audio mixer based on Commodore 64!

After that I strongly tried to start working in the audio field, and met Mr.Bugari, a well known organs and guitars builder in Italy. He believed me and gave me the responsability of marketing the Shure microphones in Italy, that Mr.Bugari company was (and still is) distributing. What a dream to enter the offices of broadcasting companies like RAI, Vatican Radio, Radio24, 105, RTL, VideoItalia and many others!!!

This started my path in multimedia field, and I worked as employee, and later as consultant, for companies like GEM/LEM, Creative Labs, ESO/Eastech, Viscount and Peavey.

With the start of computer video technologies, I was involved in the development of video catalogues, the first one was a touch screen video catalog for Generalmusic at the Frankfurt Musikmesse in 1992, based on IBM AVC and OS/2. The same system was used then for the virtual museum for Palazzo Grassi in Venice.

Around mid of the '90s I was involved in the introduction of multimedia PC as OEM account manager for Creative Labs in the Munich office. It was fun to contribute to the first generation of PCs with multimedia motherboards from HP, Siemens, AT&T.

Around year 2000 I produced the first multimedia e-learning products on CD and web video streaming presentations.

In the last years I am active as CEO of OC Open Consulting, leader in Europe for multimedia e-learning contents for industry, social and public sectors.

Besides that, I write as a freelance journalist for the magazines Strumenti Musicali, Backstage and Insound since 1991.

Life is music and, it's more fun to compute!
